Francis Roosevelt Gilliam III, MD, is a cardiologist with Palmetto Heart and a clinical assistant professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina, where he also completed internships in psychiatry and medicine. After receiving his medical degree, he completed a residency in medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases, both at Duke.

Dr. Gilliam is board certified in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology, has received numerous professional honors and awards and is published in several peer-reviewed journals. He also currently serves as the chief science officer for the Association of Black Cardiologists.
