About

Mark E. Humphrey, MD, joined the faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in October 2013. Dr. Humphrey serves as the medical director for the Family Medicine Center. Prior to his appointment to the School of Medicine, Dr. Humphrey served as a medical and preventive medicine officer with the US Navy, where he completed a humanitarian tour to the South Pacific. He received his medical degree from the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and completed his family medicine residency at the University of Louisville community program in Glasgow, Kentucky. As a result of his interest in global health and health care policy, Dr. Humphrey completed a preventive medicine residency and a master's degree in public health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. A graduate of the University of Toledo, Dr. Humphrey received a bachelor of arts in chemistry and a minor in business administration. He is particularly interested in population-based quality improvement, community medicine, health care policy and global health.
