Anil Yallapragada, MD, currently serves as medical director of the Palmetto Health Stroke Center, is a neurologist with Palmetto Health-USC Neurology and is an assistant professor of neurology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, completed his neurology residency at the University of Chicago and his vascular neurology fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Ronald Reagan Medical Center.
Dr. Yallapragada has received numerous professional awards and recognitions, including the Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching award, the South Carolina Waccamaw American Heart Association (AHA) Legacy of Life award and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin Young Physician of the Year award. He was selected as a national finalist for a White House Fellowship, has published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at numerous national and international society meetings. He currently serves on the World Stroke Organization/World Health Organization (WHO) Global Guidelines and Policy Board, the AHA Mid-Atlantic Board, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) Stroke Advisory Council and the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
Dr. Yallapragada is board certified in neurology and vascular neurology, and his primary research interests include improvements in stroke systems of care and health disparities in stroke outcomes and care, especially in South Carolina.
