Margaret M. Matthews, MD, received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Boulder. She completed clinical and research fellowships in geriatrics at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and is board certified in internal medicine with a certificate added qualifications in geriatric medicine.
As an internist and geriatrician, Dr. Matthews specializes in providing primary care services to patients age 65 and older. In addition to caring for patients at Senior Primary Care, Dr. Matthews is actively involved in ongoing research and teaching, serving as a guest lecturer at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine as well as mentoring medical students in geriatric-related research. Dr. Matthews enriches her knowledge through conferences like the Geriatric Medicine Conference hosted by the Harvard School of Medicine in Boston. She also is widely published in medical journals, including the American Geriatric Society, on topics ranging from physical activity and risk of depression in the elderly to assessing memory impairment. In her free time, Dr. Matthews enjoys being with her children.
