At Prisma Health, our combined Neuroscience team has a strong tradition of working together to provide neurology and neurosurgery care with a team approach for patients across the state of South Carolina.

Our world-class care features multiple dedicated specialists working collaboratively in our Advanced Certification Comprehensive Stroke Center, dedicated Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) and Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Center.

Our neuroscience team

Utilizing the latest adavanced technological innovation and expert research , our expert neurologists and neurosurgeons at Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group are dedicated to compassionate patient care for the brain, spine and nervous system. Our Advanced Certification Comprehensive Stroke Center is on call 24/7 for victims of stroke and related conditions, and our 16-bed Neuroscinece ICU (NSICU) houses neurointensivists soley dedicated to the care of critically ill neurological patients.

Our neuroscience services are co-led by neurosurgery medical director Roham Moftakhar, MD, and neurology chair Souvik Sen, MD, MPH. Each of our fellowship-trained physicians are passionate about providing the highest level of care and serve as members of the faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
